Engineering Program Community Lunch-N-Learn
The Library hosted the After School Engineering Program’s Lunch-N-Learn. Members of the Girls In Engineering, First Tech Challenge and Cyber Patriots programs made presentations to members from the Community, Professors and Graduate Engineering Students from Old Dominion University, School Board and Administration. Then, everyone ate lunch together where students got to hear about attendees’ career paths. Lunch was catered by our school’s Culinary II students.
December has lots of Holidays and educational opportunities.
December starts off with Computer Science Week (December 9-15) which includes the Hour of Code To ensure all students have an opportunity to participate in the Hour of Code, members of the Computer Science Honor Society will once again be facilitating an Hour of Code and unplugged coding activities during lunch time.
In the Library, we have collaborated with a public library in our city to form a book club. They are currently reading Ms. Marvel No Normal. The superhero story with a multi-ethnic twist is written by G. Willow Wilson (Air, Cairo) and the amazing artwork is created by Adrian Alphona (Runaways). It features an ordinary Muslim girl, Kamala Khan, from Jersey City, who wakes up with superpowers and has to balance the dangers of her new powers and the good she can do for her city.
